The plant
  • Late June bearer, 7-10 days later than Elsanta
  • Highly productive
  • Salsa is highly resistant to wilt diseases (Verticillium). Salsa is also highly resistant to mildew (Sphaerotheca macularis) and crown rot (Phytophthora cactorum). Salsa is susceptible to fruit rot (Botrytis cinerea)
  • Suitable for cultivation in colder regions
The fruit
  • Slightly susceptible to bruising and therefore more suitable for pick your own than traditional market chains
  • Large, juicy, occasionally grooved and conical fruit
  • Good flavour, especially in comparison to other late varieties
